The Wheelhouse Story
We Started WheelHouse Cards to...
There was a need for a family friendly, and convenient sports store in the Delaware Valley and Jon and Charles, Wheelhouse’s founders, realized this in February 2021. Jon has two young sons, and he was tired of driving hours to find any kind of hobby availability. Charles was getting tired of seeing the same old sights as a dealer at local card shows. They drew up a plan and were able to find a retail vacancy on Wayne’s Lancaster Avenue. They then called upon a third friend named Mike to join them as he was always up for a new adventure… and he had a warehouse full of sealed card boxes too. Drawing upon their corporate, retail and hobby expertise, Wheelhouse opened in a 500 Sq Ft space next to a Primo Hoagie’s shop in June of 2021.

After being warmly received by its community, Wheelhouse quickly outgrew its first location, and in September 2022 moved into a much more expansive space in the heart of downtown Wayne in what is now its flagship store. Bringing in a complete array of sports apparel with the curation of Shibe Vintage Sports in Center City, the store is a bright, clean, welcoming sports oasis. Customers can come in and watch the Phillies on the big screen, shop for some Birds apparel, grab a stocking stuffer or two for the holidays, or learn if their grandfather’s collection is valuable or merits grading.

In August of 2023, Wheelhouse was blessed to open its second location in West Chester, PA and has enjoyed a wonderful and engaging relationship with the Chester County community ever since. The store looks and feels like the original location, has the same hours, and offers all the same products and services. Two things that set the West Chester customers apart: (1) its deep population of dedicated hobbyists, and (2) parents’ willingness to balance their child’s fun with learning through sports cards – which for a kid are symbolic of the truly important goals and assets they will chase in life. West Chester rocks!

In Summer of 2024, Wheelhouse plans to open its newest location in Ardmore, PA. This boutique space is a planned evolution of the current Wheelhouse floorplan and will offer seven day a week sports cards, apparel and memorabilia to the other end of the Main Line. While the spatial layout will be a new twist on an old favorite, Wheelhouse will bring its signature service, convenience and selection to this passionate community of Philly sports fans. And as always, dog friendly! COMING SOON!
